Okay, y’all, I’m super excited to share this with you! I first heard about this concept at a job I had almost two years ago, and while I loved the idea. I have definitely realized how much power a Word of the Year holds. So, this year, I’m picking my word for 2025—and I want you to join me!
A Word of the Year is a single word or phrase that you choose to focus on for the next 365 days. It's your personal mantra to guide your actions, mindset, and goals. Think of it as your North Star, something to help you stay intentional, focused, and aligned with what matters most to you.
For me, focus has always been a challenge. So this word will help me stay on track—and I’m going all in. To remind myself, I’m going to make my word the background on my phone (yes, I’m serious), and I’m even considering creating a wallpaper for y’all too if you’re into it. I've gotta figure out how I'm going to do that. Patreon is one of my goals for 2025 (I’m manifesting that shit, trust me), and as I keep Shifting thru the Chaos of life, this Word of the Year will help me fine-tune my focus and mindset.
I’m excited to have you along for the ride—let’s make 2025 a year to remember!

My word of 2025: Abundance
So, what’s my word, you ask? It’s abundance. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and it just stuck in my mind when I came across it as I was trying to pick a word for the year. According to Merriam-Webster, abundance is defined as “an ample quantity” or “affluence and wealth” (Merriam-Webster, n.d.).
When I chose abundance, I reflected on 2024. It was a good year, but there were things missing. Mainly, time with my kid and the financial freedom to spend more time with her, without feeling stressed or anxious about how I'm going to do it. I’m also finally getting my brain more aligned, after treating myself like I had ADHD, as I've not been diagnosed, which is a huge win!!! Instead of thinking I’m stuck in a rut, I’m learning to believe that I can achieve my dreams, and nothing’s going to stop me from doing so!
Writing has always been my passion, and I've tried to start a few blogs and they just "weren't right" and I’m sharing my journey with you in the hopes that it helps at least one person. If that happens, I’ve done my job. I’m motivated as hell and have stayed consistent with this blog, and I’m damn proud of it.
Abundance isn’t just about finances. It’s about having the time and freedom to focus on the things I love—like my kid, my blog, and my projects. I want an abundance of time, finances, and peace of mind. That’s the ultimate goal and, again, nothing is going to stop me!
I’m planning to embody abundance in 2025 by focusing hard on my blog, getting things lined up, and hopefully launching more digital and physical products. I also want to get my Patreon set up as well. This year, I’m committing to sitting down, making plans, and setting clear goals. I’ll use affirmations like “I have abundance in my life” to keep my focus sharp and keep this word in the forefront of my mind.
I’m telling you, this is the year I make it happen. Nothing’s getting in my way!
How to choose your word of the year
Choosing your Word of the Year doesn’t have to be complicated, but it should mean something to you. Think of it as your anchor for the year—a word or phrase to keep you grounded when life inevitably throws some chaos your way. Here’s how to find it:
- Look Back Before You Look Forward
Take a minute to reflect on the past year. What went well? What didn’t? What did you crave more of? Think about the areas where you want change or growth in 2025. - Dream About the Year Ahead
Picture who you want to be in the upcoming year. How do you want to feel? What do you want to accomplish? Is it peace, joy, adventure, or maybe just some damn balance? Let your goals and dreams guide your word. - Brainstorm Some Options
Grab a pen or open your phone and jot down words that come to mind. Don’t overthink it—just write whatever feels right. Words like “growth,” “peace,” or “resilience” are great starting points. - Pick Your Word
Look over your list and ask yourself, “Which of these makes me feel excited or hopeful?” That’s your word. It should spark something in you every time you think about it. - Make It Yours
Once you’ve got your word, figure out how you’ll keep it in front of you all year long. Write it down, make it your phone wallpaper, add it to your planner, or even just say it every morning. Live it. Breathe it. Own it.

Tips for living your word of the year
Okay, so you’ve picked your word. Now let’s talk about how to keep it top of mind all year long. Here are some ways to integrate your word into your daily life:
-
Create Visual Reminders
Put that word everywhere. Sticky notes on your mirror, your laptop, your fridge—don’t be shy. You can even make a custom wallpaper for your phone, which I’m definitely doing! I'll post to my blog and story when I get it done! -
Journal About It
Each week, spend a few minutes reflecting on how your word has shown up in your life. Are you living it, or is it slipping away? No judgment, just progress. -
Turn It Into Affirmations
Make your word part of your daily affirmations. For example, if your word is “growth,” say something like “I am growing every day in all aspects of my life.” Sounds cheesy, but it really works. -
Revisit It Monthly
At the start of each month, take a moment to check in. How’s it going? What can you do to live your word even more? A fresh month is a fresh chance to reset. -
Make It Part of Your Routine
If your word is “peace,” maybe that means scheduling daily quiet time. If it’s “adventure,” try something new every week. Small, consistent actions make a huge impact. -
Tell Your People
Let your friends, family, or followers know your word. Having that accountability makes it easier to stick to, and you’ll have someone cheering you on. -
Celebrate the Wins
Living your word isn’t always easy, so when you do something that aligns with it, celebrate! Whether it’s a mental high-five or a small treat, celebrate the little victories.
A QUICK NOTE FROM ME
Living your Word of the Year isn’t about being perfect. There will be months when you’re totally crushing it, and other times when it slips through the cracks. But that’s okay. The goal is progress, not perfection.
If your word gets lost for a bit, no worries—it’s always there, waiting for you to pick it back up. This whole thing is about showing up for yourself, little by little.

My word for 2025 is "growth" financial would be nice but it is more personally for me. In confidence, in consistency, as well as in knowledge, and ....backbone. I hope to grow so i can stand against the challenges that I believe are leading us exactly where we are meant to be in 2025. I am excited and hopeful and ready. But most of all excited to see the change and see by the end of 2025 how far I have gone, how much I had grown.
